Metro Carvers Annual Show

Metro Carvers (MI) annual Show was held on March 18th and 19th in Madison Heights, MI. Over 1,400 people attended the 26th edition of one of the few remaining two day shows.. One hundred nineteen tables for vendors and carvers were sold - an all-time record. Competition for ribbons was very tough this year. One hundred eighteen carvings were submitted for judging. This was yet another record for the Metro Carvers show. Judges Jim Standtlander, Ben Donaghy and Carl Zajac were kept very busy!!
 
Club member
Edgar Potestades was the feature carver and showed why when he won Best of Show and Third Best of Show. Second Best of Show went to Metro member Clar Elzerman.
 
Dick Jacobs won the Best of Theme competition with a great John Wayne.
 
People's Choice winners were First Place -
Linda Sales, Second Place - Harold Joseph, and Third Place went to Jim Shannon.
 
Congratulations to all the winners!!!

. Doug attends many shows and roundups enjoying the chips on the floor and looking for his Holy Grail -- a mentor to take his carving to the next level.
