Bill Judt's Summer Relief Carving Workshops 2009

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

Bill Judt is once again offering two summer Relief Carving workshops at his fully equipped studio in beautiful Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Bill‘s studio is located at his home in the spacious residential area of College Park in Saskatoon. These workshops will be offered during the weeks of May 24-29 or June 7-12, 2009

Curriculum includes:
- Tool structure and tool safety
- Four-quadrant carving
- Router techniques
- Roughing out the carving
- Re-tracing pattern layers
- Trimming pattern elements
- Rough modeling
- Undercutting
- Finish-modeling
-Tool marking
- Borders and backgrounds
-Texturing
-Finishing
-Tool making and tool sharpening
-Lamination techniques
-Use of jointer and planer

CCA National Caricature Carving Competition 2009

Converse, IN

Judging August 27; Entries due August 25th

The 2009 CCA National Caricature Carving Competition 2009 will be held in Converse, Indiana.  It’s never too early to start planning your entries.  Judging is scheduled for Thursday, August 27. Carvings must be received by August 26th, with walk-in entries accepted until 4:00 p.m. on August 26, 2009.

CCA Annual Seminar 2009

August 28-30, 2009

Eastern Woodland Carvers Club, Converse, IN

The CCA’s annual carving seminar will immediately follow the 2009 CCA Competition.  The 3-day seminar will be held in at the Eastern Woodland Carvers Club in Converse, Indiana from August 28 through August 30, 2009.  This year’s instructors are Desiree Hajny, Floyd Rhadigan and Bruce Henn.  Students will carve one day with each instructor.  The cost of the seminar is $150 for all 3 days, and includes lunch each day.  The seminar is filling fast.  To check on seminar availability, please contact Bob Travis at (530) 758-5692 or via mail at rltravis AT ucdavis DOT edu
