Welcome to the May/June 2002 Issue of WOM

Friends in Wood -

Ask any non-carver for their mental image of a woodcarver, and the likely response is "an old duffer sittin' on the porch whittlin' on a stick."

Those of us involved in woodcarving know that stereotype to be far from the truth; carvers are young and old; in city, suburb and country; male and female.

It is these female carvers, the Lady Carvers among us, that are the focus of a number of articles in this issue of WOM.

Among the articles you will find an interesting variety of excellent work in the Gallery, meet the Woman With Knives, and read about one carver's struggle for recognition as a woodcarving artist. Enjoy!
