West Yellowstone Fish Carvers Rendezvous

Dates: August 11 - 15, 1993
Location: Lionshead Resort located 7 miles west of West Yellowstone, MT on Highway 20

Instructors and Class Description

Bob Berry - In Bob's 5-day class you will carve, texture and paint a 14" Rainbow or Cutthroat Trout. The trout will be carved with a wall-mounted habitat. The price of the class is $500 plus blank/cast.

George Kruth - In George's 5-day class you will paint a casting of a Drake Green-winged Teal, followed by your carving of a "smoothie" for you to finish at home. The price of the class is $475 plus blank/cast.

David Sabol - In David's 5-day class you will carve either a Santa Riding a Trout or one of David's storybook characters. You will carve, detail and paint your piece. The price of the class is $200 plus blank/cast.

Lori Corbett -  In Lori's 5-day class you will carve a life-sized Mountain Bluebird, using a cast for painting and reference. The eyes and feet are included. Mounting will be covered as time allows. The price of the class is $575 plus blank/cast.

Kirt Curtis - In Kirt's 5-day class you will carve, texture and paint a Bull and Cow Elk Head and Cape. The price of the class will be $250 plus blank.

Registration: Deadline for registration is July 3, 2003. Half of the class fee is due at the time of registration and the remainder no later than 2 weeks prior to the start of the class. Classes are limited to 12 students, first come, first served.

Note: For those who are a bit more rugged and want to save some $$$, the Lionshead also has tent sites with associated shower/bathroom facilities.

The IMAX Theatre, the Grizzly Discovery Center, and the Yellowstone Museum provide a wealth of information about the geography, wildlife, and history of the area. Spouses of carving class attendees are encouraged to attend as there will be a variety of non-carving activities available, including guided beginner-level fly fishing trips, sightseeing and shopping trips, and crafts.
There will be a steak and chicken cook-out on Friday evening (included in the class fee)


CCA Carvalong East

Woodcarving Seminars
Labor Day Weekend 2003

Southtowns Woodcarvers of Hamburg, NY will be hosting the 8th Annual CCA Carvealong East at the Erie County Fairgrounds. Beginners, Intermediates, and Advanced carvers from the east coast will gather to get instruction from 3 CCA (Caricature Carvers of America) members.

Each carver will be carving one day with each of the instructors. In 2003 the instructors will be:

Each will be teaching a different piece, so each carver will be going home with 3 carvings by the end
of the weekend. You may have to do a little finish work, but the main parts will be done. The gathering will be restricted to 36 carvers for 3 twelve carver classes. You get to meet new carvers and gain new friends. The cost will be $192 total, which will include membership in Southtowns, and lunches during the weekend, plus instruction. Vendors will be available with all your woodcarving needs.

This is always a special time and 39 caricature carvers in one building always seems to bring out the laughter and fun. We hope you can make it.

The 1st Annual NorthEast Wood Carvers Roundup

July 20, 2003 thru July 24, 2003

The Upper Pocono Mountains at Cherry Ridge Campsites and Lodging, Honesdale, PA

No matter what your age, if you already carve, would like to improve on your skills or would like to learn how, come for a few quite days of wood carvers getting together to have a great time cutting up!! You are welcome to join us at anytime during the Roundup.

Sharing ideas and techniques is the main focus of the Roundup with teaching and instruction totally volunteer. The only compensation would be for materials and the satisfaction of helping someone become a better carver, and they will in turn have the gratification of your guidance in a relaxed, no stress learning environment.

Worlshops: Will run from 9 am to noon and 1:30 till 5:00. 

Instruction will be FREE, but there may be a cost for materials.

Workshop Leaders:

Non-carver activities will be planned just like the carving workshops. Here again, if you are a non-carver and have a craft project you would like to share, perhaps you could volunteer to lead a workshop.
