The
Caricature Carvers of America are preparing
a special carving to be auctioned on eBay with all proceeds going
to Marnie Whillock's medical expense fund. Phil Bishop designed
the pattern for "The Woodcarver," which was cut into
8 pieces and farmed out to different CCA members to carve. Phil
also carved a workbench complete with a carving in progress. The
photo is of Phil's pattern superimposed in front of the actual
workbench. We will assemble and paint the finished figure, and
fill in the studio with additional items provided by other CCA
members. The original color design will be autographed by Phil
and included in the auction lot. All contributing CCA members
will sign the carving.
DISCLAIMER - Please note the following: In farming this carving out to eight CCA members we fully understand that any resemblance between the finished carving and Phil's pattern will undoubtedly be purely coincidental. However, you may rest assured that the carving will indeed be of a woodcarver working in his studio. As to what the other members will contribute to the studio.....I have no idea what to expect. Of course, I'm sure that they will be items that you would expect to find in any reputable studio.
"The Woodcarver" will be on exhibit
during our National Caricature Carving competition and Exhibit
at Dollywood. The exhibit will open to the public on Friday, September
24.and is scheduled to close on October 30. Photographs of the
finished carving will be posted on our web site this fall. www.cca-carvers.org
