Art Workshop 2005

On July 17-22, 2005, carving enthusiasts will
gather on the campus of Doane College in Crete, Nebraska for John
Burke's Western and Wildlife Art Workshop. This
workshop offers a great opportunity for five days of stuidy with
some of the leading carving and art instructors in America. This
great value features not only quality instruction but also first
class food and dormitory housing on the Doane College campus.
Instructors for this years' workshop include:
- Nancy Burke
will teach different styles of baskets
- Janet Denton Cordel's
carvers will have a choice of subjects including females, children,
animals etc.
- Kirt Curtis'
antler carving subject will be three Big Horned Sheep being chased
by a mountain lion
- Linda Curtis
will be teaching carving of the mountain lion
- Vic Hood is
back after a year off to teach large bust and figure carving
- Adina Huckins'
subject will be traditional Ozark style carving
- Rick Jensen
will teach his popular Whimsical Bark Houses in cottonwood bark
- David Johnson's
class will concentrate on proportions of the human figure and
carve without a pattern or model.
- Van Mueller
will lead her students on the subject of watercolors
- Jeff Phares
will teach a large mask
- Harley Schmitgen
has a new design named "Herbie"; Harley and Midge also
offer many other subjects to choose from including caricature,
realistic and animals
- Dave Stetson
returns, teaching (in the tradition of Emil Janel) a 16"
figure using full size mallets and gouges.
