Metro Carvers held their 25th anniversary show March 19th and 20th. Over1,200 people attended this special event. Besides all the carvings on display, several free carving seminars were held. A crazy hat contest, a "fastest" carving competition and a special carving class for Cub Scouts was offered by showchairman Mike LePage.
A special life size "to scale" tiger was constructed by club officers Lee Bodrie and Sandra Huffman. This tiger was raffled off at the show as a club fundraiser.
Best of Show Winners
Best of Show honors for this 25th anniversary show went to longtime Metro member Dick Jacobs for his caricature of Harpo Marx. Caricatures are not often selected for Best of Show honors but Dick's carving was outstanding !!! Dick's talents were way overdue in being recognized.
Second Best of Show was awarded to Denise Mooney for her painted song birds. Denise was very excited and pleased with her award.
Third Best of Show
was awarded to Jim Shannon for his woodpeckers in the Clinging
