Official Name: World Wide Woodcarvers Exchange - Holiday Ornament Division (W3E-HOD)

To Join: You must be currently subscribed to the Woodc@rver Listserve, Knotty Wood Porch, Woodcarving Fun, ASA List, Knotholes List , Fish Carver2 List, the MiWCA List, or the W3E-WOM List to participate. Object: To produce and exchange holiday ornament carvings

Introduction:

December is the season of celebration for people of many faiths. It comes once a year, but many carvers like to carve the ornaments for that special season year 'round. This exchange will help support that tendency, and allow carvers to exchange seasonal ornament carvings with other carvers throughout the world.

Schedule:

In this program groups of six participants will carve and exchange one ornament every three months.

Participants:

Anyone who can carve a holiday season ornament. Caricature carvers, realistic carvers, relief carvers, prographers, etc. etc. Like all W3E exchanges, enthusiasm for carving is more important than skill level. Subjects could include ornaments that can be hung on the tree, but also shelf sitters, carvings in the round, chip, relief, etc. Anything that is appropriate to the Holiday Season such as Santas, elves, gnomes, wreaths, poinsettias, angels, reindeer, cardinals, snowmen, snowflakes, candles, menorahs, and so on.

Carving Guidelines:

Wander on down to your shop/studio/basement. Carve or pyro a hanging ornament or shelf sitter! Within the bounds of reasonably good taste, the ornament may be whatever style you wish to carve.

Size is not a particular issue, but the piece should be of a size and complexity that would typically require 2 to 6 hours to complete. If you are really quick or carve smaller ornaments, consider carving two or three.

Registration:

To register for W3E-Holiday Ornament Division, go to the Enrollment form page. Read the form, enter the requested information, and submit the form. Sit back and think about what you will carve. Go rummage around looking for possible patterns.

As the groups fill, members will be send a roster and a schedule of who-to-mail-to-when. Then the work and the fun may begin!!
